Description

In recent years, societal concerns over the dramatic rise in juvenile crime - especially violent crime - has reaffirmed the importance of research in this area.  Children who commit antisocial, delinquent, and violent acts constitute a heterogeneous group in terms of the types of antisocial behaviours they exhibit, the causes of their behaviour problems, and the developmental course of their antisocial behaviour.  Early detection of antisocial processes initiates preventative measures or therapeutic programs before these tendencies lead to crime and other destructive behaviours.

The Antisocial Process Screening Device (APSD) assessment addresses the need to detect antisocial processes in young populations.  Based on the highly popular Hare PCL-R assessment, the APSD screens for Antisocial Personality Disorder (APD) or psychopathy.  The child is rated on a dimensional scale that probes the characteristic psychopathic pattern of interpersonal, affective, and behavioural symptoms.  In addition to the parent (APSD-C) allows you to integrate the responses of multiple informants.  The APSD measures Callous/Unemotional traits, Narcissism, and Impulsivity.

The APSD Forms make administration and scoring easy.  Responses transfer through to a hidden scoring page to facilitate quick scoring.  Raw scores are plotted on a profile form for conversion to T-scores.
